A new venue opens in Dalston this week. Hold on, don’t go anywhere. I’ll be brief. The Nest is opening where Barden’s Boudoir previously was, halfway up Kingsland Road. It’s being bought to you by the people behind The Old Queens Head (don’t hold it against them) and The Westbury.
It’s been gutted (see below) and rebuilt. So while it retains some essential Dalston down-at-heel charm, it’s not quite as grubby as its predecessor. It vows to champion new and unsigned acts, so that entry and drink prices can be kept low, while keeping weekly line-ups fresh.
The Nest also runs a monthly Nest Award scheme, offering a monthly cash bursary of up to £1,500 to a deserving creative project.
